It's Officially Fall ! ! !

Tuesday ended up being an extremely long day at work and by the time I actually left work, it was dark and cold and raining! And not only did I have to walk in the rain to my car, I had to stand in the rain while I fumbled with the lock to the dumpster, throw away the trash and then fumble again to lock the dumpster. So after this fiasco, I had to drive home shivering in the dark, not my idea of fun. I do have to say, though, that I have the most amazing husband in the world! When I got home, I walked in the house to a fire going in the fireplace and dinner already in the works! It was awesome and I loved every minute I got to be home with Jim and Kayla that night.

And even though I might complain about the weather and darkness this particular day, I truly do LOVE this time of year.....when I'm prepared for it. The weather had been so extremely nice up until this week, I didn't even think about putting an umbrella in my car or wearing a jacket to work. I mean, it's been so long since I've needed either of those things, I just wasn't prepared. But never fear, the fall and winter necessities have been removed from storage.

While the nice weather did last, we took the girls to the Puyallup Fair on the last and busiest weekend it was open. Before we left that morning, we told the girls that we were not going on any rides and to not even ask. Jim had never done the Puyallup before, so we were mostly going so he could have this experience. This trip was about him and not the kids....right? So in exchange for rides, each of the girls got to spend $15 on whatever they wanted while we spent the day walking from booth to booth to booth. Geez - I swear they have added more booths of people trying to sell you something. But I must admit, I love to go and see all the different things for sell....even if half the stuff is retarded.

So Kayla and Kelsey immediately stopped at this cute little "Webkinz" store. They had every kind of Webkinz imaginable and Kayla was in heaven! She ended up picking out a cute little Webkinz pig that came with a free outfit. Kelsey also got a pig, but noticed she could get a much bigger "non-Webkinz" brand pig for the same price. It's funny to see how their decisions are based on completely different ideas. Kelsey wanted big and soft.....for Kayla it was all about the brand. It had to be a Webkinz so she could interact with it online. Katlynne came across this Aquatics booth where they were selling African Dwarf Frogs in these cute little eco-friendly tanks. Katlynne loves frogs and I knew the minute she saw these that this is what she was going to get. So she did, and she loves them.

We also made plenty of stops at the Animal Barns and even sat to watch some of the horse shows - which were Kesley's favorite. She LOVES horses!

The Highlight of Jim's Day

The Girls Were Afraid....Katlynne Refused To Stand Next To Them!

So the girls did great about not asking to go on rides! Not once did we hear any complaining! But when we walked past the Giant Slide, Jim and I saw Kayla and Kelsey's eyes light up and they starting whispering frantically to each other.....but they did great and kept walking right past it without asking. We KNOW it was killing them, but not a peep was heard. So - I caved and slipped away for a few minutes to go buy some ride tickets. After all - they had been so good and probably walked about 15 miles around the fair grounds with us all day. They were SO EXCITED when I handed them each a bunch of tickets.

The Giant Slide was their first stop and they LOVED it!

Kayla and Kelsey - At The Top!

On Their Way Down!

Their second stop was at the Wild Cat. I was actually pretty shocked to see Kayla so excited to go on a roller coaster of any type. She has been on a few rides in her life time, but nothing this big, so I was a little nervous for her. But she was so excited and ended up comforting Kelsey and convincing her that it was going to be okay. Kelsey was a little nervous to say the least.

Going Up, Up, Up.....

Coming Down, Down, Down....

Phew! It's Finally Over!

Somewhere along the way, the girls were jerked in one direction and bumped heads pretty hard. Kayla is rubbing her forehead in this last picture. But they had fun....even though Kelsey covered her eyes for most of the ride.

Oh - and where's Katlynne during all this? Apparently at 13, you're too old to go on rides at the fair but not too old to go trick-or-treating??? TEENAGERS!!! I hope she grows out of it quickly.
